The care label inside your garment is the first source of guidance.
Read before washing
Check the permitted temperature, wash cycle and drying method. Separate colours when the label calls for it. Test unfamiliar cleaning products on an inconspicuous area when appropriate.
Look after shape and texture
Some knits are best dried flat; some tailored pieces need professional cleaning. Follow the garment’s label rather than applying one routine to every fabric. Store items clean and completely dry.
Shoes and accessories
Choose care products made for the stated material. Suede, smooth leather and textiles require different treatment. Manufacturer instructions take precedence over general advice.
