Fit notes

A shirt, your way.

Collar, shoulder, sleeve and hem each affect how a shirt works with the rest of your wardrobe.

Fit notes

Check the shoulder and chest

A shoulder seam at your shoulder point generally gives a neater shape; a dropped seam usually creates a relaxed one. Button the shirt and move your arms. Pulling between buttons can indicate that you need more room.

Think about the hem

A longer curved hem often tucks more easily. A straighter or shorter hem may work untucked. These are styling choices rather than rules: try your shirt with the trousers you expect to wear.

Style the sleeves

A cuff that closes comfortably at the wrist should still allow movement. Roll sleeves with care and smooth the fabric rather than tightly bunching it. Short sleeves can look quite different depending on width and where they end.

Wear it more than one way

Try a shirt buttoned with straight-leg denim, open over a tee, or partly tucked into wider trousers. Check the fabric’s care requirements before deciding whether it suits your routine.
